Recovering from a mental wound is very similar to recovering from physical injuries. It hurts like hell for forever, and then slowly starts to improve, with lots of fits and starts. Then, once the initial wound is largely put back together, there’s lots of time with physical therapy. You push the boundaries slowly, and it

Garden Spring 2015!
My garden gets me ridiculously excited on a regular basis. I just have to share how awesome this is! These first two pictures are from a couple months ago, right after the snow melted. The spinach plants from last fall survived the winter! Now contrast that to what those spinach plants look like now. I

Red Fret Pick-Up Inkle Weave
This beautiful weave of a red fret is made of silk and cotton. The white is a gorgeous silk generously given to me by Dillon ap Dillon, an amazing tablet weaver in the Barony of Cynnabar. The red fibers is crochet cotton size 10, purchased from JoAnn’s. I love the contrast of the shiny silk

My knee-high Catskill Mountain Moccasins are my babies – they are the fourth most expensive thing I own, after my sewing machine, laptop, and car, and worth every penny. They are incredibly comfortable, being custom-fit to my feet and legs. They are my fencing boots, general SCA shoes, and also just all

This, That, + The Other
See you next week!
Hey, wonderful readers! I know I said that I’d be posting today about the complicated shoe repair I did to my knee-high boots (to ultimately repair the toes, which were getting holes from scuffing), but I am getting super low on energy/spoons from job hunting. I’m going to take a week off from blogging. See

My Own Fume Hood!!!
I have a fume hood!!! And it works, for the most part! This is so exciting for me. As a leatherworker, I sometimes work with methods or materials I shouldn’t be breathing. A lot of leather glues, like barge cement, are not good to be inhaled and are denser than air, so can hover around
